sooooo....

one of my incisions still shows no sign of healing. it won't close in the middle or form a scab, and it's three weeks old. it is VERY tender to the touch and periodically sends shock waves of pain thru my body. it's not infected red, it's scar tissue red. i don't have a fever, i've been checking regularly throughout the day just to make sure. we've been cleaning it regularly and trying bacitracin with the dressings. the incision in the front looks almost 100% healed aside from the fat still being a little displaced giving me a little square belly and the muscles are still a little tender.

is this something i should be worried about?

I think you should tell the doctor. they may need to restitch it or something. My uncle had a hole in him that didn't heal. it took forever.

ew... i dun want anymore stitches. don't want a massive infection either tho.

Tony (uncle) had a hernia or something. and then the surgery site opened back up. He didn't get it taken care of and they ended up having to sort of re-cut it (maybe get dead ends off?) and then he had to pack it and clean it every day. YUCK

Oh and it took months for it to heal from the inside out which was why he had to keep packing it.

so call the surgeon dude!! I don't like the thought of friends walking around with a weird extra orifice on their backs.

i honestly couldn't tell you but you should have a follow up with your surgeon soon, shouldn't you?

my last follow up was to get the staples out and it's just kinda been downhill from there.

my last follow up was to get the staples out, i'm thinkin' i need to get in there asap tho cuz i don't want all this progress to be thwarted by mrca or some other superbug asshole.

I'd definitely go back to get it checked out.

Figured they would have noticed it was not closed completely, or at least healing well before they removed the staples?

I'm really squicked out by the thought of your back peeping open. *shudder*

I'll point Gabe at this. He's been without internet since Friday due to a power outage knocking out their routers. Hopefully he'll be on tonight.

Definitely get it looked at. It might have healed open.

call your dr. was it open still when they took out the staples? are the edges infected looking? what carrie mentioned above is what happens when the incision gets really infected. (dehiscence) they cut out the infected part, and let it heal open, with packing, and then sew it back together.
how regularly are you cleaning it? you may be doing it too often, and the bacitracin may not be helping like you would think. call your dr. hell be able to give you better answers than any of us.
