i have touchy lungs due to being born a premie and allergies and i have a tendency for colds to turn into bronchitis and chest infestions etc. and i find that treatment with inhaled and oral steroids and other anti-inflamitory medication to work better than a course of antibiotics. you've been sick for a long time now... it stands to reason that there might be inflammation issues, rather than infection issues. this medication is common to asthmatics but not limited to. i find going on advair or symbacort for a time helps (both are inhaled steroids) and i have even been given a five day course of oral prednisone. if you go to an emergency room coughing like crazy, they should give you treatments of this medication via an oxygen mask. sometimes that is enough to get your lungs to open up. not saying you don't have illness and infection, but there could be lasting inflammation that needs to be treated. this is just my best guess based on what happens to me. hope you find something that works soon!!
Shit.. I didn't know you were having breathing issues also. They're pretty scary, aren't they?? =/
I hope you feel better very soon and yeah, take that person above me's advice. I actually benefited from it as well and am actually getting an inhaler, so to person, THANK YOU.
i'm gonna suggest it at least. back when i smoked i got bronchitis and pneumonia every winter and they usually gave me an inhaler. prednisone makes me face swell up hilariously (they gave it to me for RA) but anything to put a freaking end to this.
yeah, i mean it sounds like the infections have left you with lasting damage that needs to be fixed. the inhaled steroids don't have the side effects prednisone does. something like advair, usually works for me. it is kind of super expensive - and that is even the canadian price. but it really does work. good luck.
oooh, I love that name. Even cooler than what I listed! Good stuff!
My breathing problems started about a month and a half ago while I was sick (I was also vomiting and not being able to breathe back then, a mirror of what is happening now, except I had a very brutal cough last month and would even fall to the ground I was coughing so deeply and consistantly - retching at the same time), but went away when I was feeling better. Then suddenly I was having what felt like flashbacks from it every single day. I don't know if it's mental or physical right now to tell you the truth. There's gotta be an inflammation by now. I still haven't gotten my ass to the docs because I keep having to stay awake all night because that's when the attacks happen and then in the morning I am so weak from all the hyperventilating, my chest hurts, and I am just so totally crashed out. Please get to the doc soon. I can't imagine any of this shit is good for your (or my) body long term. Take care of yourself, lady. Love you. <3
