we woke up kinda late yesterday due to hanging out at my dad's the night before until very late. it's great, he's realized that he's at the age where he doesn't care what the repercussions of saying anything that pops into his mind are, and holy crap does he say anything. we got a 30 minute long story involving a penis pump that i really didn't want to hear but oh my god was it hilarious. i started having an asthma attack i was laughing so hard. crippled dirty old man, lol.

anyways, when we woke up joey noticed something was wrong with nadjia's eye (well, the place where her eye used to be). it looked as though there was a giant marble under the skin. i picked her up to look at her and realized you could fry an egg on her. panicked, i called the vet to get her in for an emergency appointment. of course i had to work, so joey had to fly solo. turns out there was a giant.... something... in the eye socket that had built up a ton of fluid. they had to put her under to drain it, ended up having to put a little slit in the area so that it may continue to drain. they gave her something to bring down her fever and gave us an antibiotic while they sent out the yuck for a culture test. they theorize that the butcher shop of a vet that took out her eye might have left a part of it in there, which is just a ghastly thought to me.

today she seems to be doing much better. she's actually up and around, not just laying in bed miserable (she ALWAYS sleeps in bed with us, it's actually pretty adorable). her eye area looks so freaking awful, kinda gruesome, but it looks MUCH worse than it is. we'll find out monday what the cultures say, and depending on the outcome she might have to go in for surgery to remove whatever it is that's stuck in there. cuz, yanno, i just have all this extra money falling out of my butt. it's a good thing [livejournal.com profile] joybeans told me about carecredit a while ago or else god only knows what i would do.

so that was yesterday's adventure.

the doctor gave me a steroid inhaler called qvair on wednesday because i hadn't slept for more than about 3 hours monday and tuesday due to stopping breathing when i fell asleep. this is day three with it and i can already notice a marked difference. i didn't have to use my rescue inhaler once yesterday, which was awesome cuz it makes me really dizzy. maybe we finally figured out how to get this shit back under control. it's still ridiculous that my asthma would never have gotten *out* of control had my medication not been so expensive without insurance. i wish i was single so i could move to canada or some other country that takes care of it's citizens, but i don't think joey would take kindly to being moved thousands of miles away from his son. maybe we'll just take him with us.
