irritated

there are three managers at the same level as i am where i work (tho i have seniority ultimately). one of them had their tonsils out on the 15th, and i of course had spine surgery the 11th, leaving only the one manager. she's older than us (i think she's 56?) and is falling apart like i am (only not as bad, lol). she's a really sweet person and we all love her to death. we refer to her as our "house mom" or "den mother" because she's just so caring and nurturing. she's always looking out for the rest of us, always baking for everyone and just taking care of us. once when i went to work sick she made a pot of chicken soup - just for me.

i guess the asshole assistant manager is fucking with her and expecting her to work at my pace, which is totally unreasonable. see, any job i have, no matter how shitty, i have to do well. my mind won't let me half ass something because i know that if i half ass something that someone else is going to have to fix it or no one will and i will have to fix it later. my boss has come to expect me to move mountains and treats me as such, and i love it because it keeps me busy and makes the shift go faster. now, this is not to say that pat (the older manager) does a shitty job because she most certainly doesn't, but what she can get done in a shift is usually about half of what i would get done, which goes for all the managers except my boss - he and i are pretty even keel. i don't get mad because, like i said, i work at an unreasonable speed for the most part.

okay, totally off track.

the reason that i'm irritated is because of the other manager on leave. i come back from leave the 15th of january. now, i had a spinal fusion, and i'm coming back the 15th. the manager that got her tonsils out? she's coming back two weeks after i come back. seriously. it apparently takes longer to heal from having your tonsils out than it does from a spinal fusion. seriously, wtf? this manager was an awesome cashier, hence why i recommended her for manager, but she's done nothing but fuck off and fuck people over since she got promoted. and now this. i seriously am having a really hard time comprehending how this is possible, keep trying to wrap my head around it. most of all i feel sorry for pat because she's being worked to the freaking bone. i know her family really needs the money, but it's not going to do much good if she keels over from overexerting herself. i just think that is totally ridiculous, but who am i to judge? fucking asshole.

wow that's crap. I had two friends in their mid 30s get their tonsils out this year and both of them took two weeks off and no more. I think your other manager is milking it. I mean, people do that, but enh.
