so if one were looking for an affordable wii, where might one look?

i find it hard to believe that the xbox360 is under $200 but the wii is still almost $300. joey wants one really bad, and i've been stashing away $20 - $40 from each paycheck to try to hunt one down, but there's no way in hell i can cough up the $300 i seem to find them for, still get him wii fit (which we both want so it would be a present for BOTH of us, lol) and another game or two by xmess and still afford little things for everyone else on my shopping list.

any suggestions?

i hope this comes out:

ebgames has two "bundles". I hate that shit, they know it'll sell, so they'll tack on accessories and a game or two to up their margin, what with the systems having no profit.

ANd amazon only has consoles from second hand dealers. yuck.

get a ps3 instead ;D

trust me, i'd much rather have a ps3, but i just don't have the cash for that. $350 for JUST the console would buy a system and some games for the wii.

i'll just keep wishing santa will bring me a ps3. luckily i don't believe in hope so i won't be let down ;). besides, that bearded-red-suited-motherfucker has skipped my house my whole life, so he better not show up here or i'll kick his ass and take some other kid's ps3, lol.

well, the way i see it, is what type of games you both like to play. Seems like Joey is into FPS and action and I know you're a FF fan, both of which the wii has neither. The few FPS the wii does have fall flat immediately. Amazon does have a 40gb PS3 for 20bucks more than the wii (320.00) from a dealer. Plus you get blue ray. Im not sure if the 40gb's are as backward compatible as the older models. (the first gen ps3's were completely ps2 & ps1).

hm, all valid points. maybe that could be a half and half thing when he finally finds a job. we want a wii because we like to play games together. for instance we're playing final fantasy crystal chronicles right now.

i do really want a ps3 tho...

I have yet to see a cheaper wii, and I'd probably be overly cautious about purchasing one if I found it. The wii is sickenly popular so there aren't tons of used systems in stores like with the xbox360.

yeah, i prolly should have started my search a few months ago, lolz. or just wait another year for it to drop another $100

it can be annoying. I paid more than retail price for mine back when I bought it ;(

Do you have GameStops or used video game stores in Ohio? I've been in Michigan so long, I don't know what's a national chain and what's just local. Shaun buys a lot of his video game supplies there gently used for cheaper. Also, ebay/craigslist.

yeah, the guy at gamestop laughed at me when i asked if they ever get used wiis, lol.

I've been surprised to see that Target has had Wii's in stock the last few times I've been there. But not too many other places. Because of that near shortage, the second-hand market usually isn't any cheaper.

The XBox360 is only $199 for the arcade version which doesn't have a hard drive or a few other things. From what I've read, many have been disappointed with it. The Wii has been outselling it so there is no reason for Nintendo to lower the price.

You could get the Wii for $250 with only the Sports game it comes with though that would not have a second controller.

everywhere i see it, it's bundled with a bunch of other crap. i wouldn't mind a wii fit bundle, but i don't have that kind of scratch right now. i'm poor and joey still hasn't found a job so $250 is a lot of money. hell, that's my whole paychek. actually it's more than my paycheck. ::hangs head::

chris said he will work on it, but he expects a hand job if it works out. ;)
