I'm torn. I would be glad to blame as much as I can on Bush and co., and there is a serious economic issue with the billions we have spent on on the wars. But that said, the mortgage markets are not really tied to the what the war money would have been spent on. I'm not sure how tied the mortgage market is to the global loan market that the US has been borrowing from, so there could be a connection there. The increased cost of energy and food are tied to the war and US policy on corn ethanol, so that has certainly impacted the economy as well and helped cause the problem. But still it is hard to say how much of an impact it had.
