the monster cable fm adapter, while a cheap alternative to a new cdplayer works somewhat well for me. I too, need to replace the deck in my car, but not for a while.

Ive noticed definite sound degradation using the adapters.

The adapters don't work too well around major metropolitan cities. In fact, it works like shit here, because Cleveland has 754576476 stations that only play utter shit.

get one with a quarter inch input jack.

i just use a chord that hooks up to the auxillary jack in my car stereo. the only down side of this is that the ipod still runs off its own batteries and when you shut the car off you have to also turn the ipod off. so make sure any stereo you buy has an auxillary output jack. the chord can be bought from any electronic store for cheap.
