check it:

that is a wanted poster for my great uncle clifford p. redden, aka "the flash bandit." he apparently used to roll with capone and did 2 stints in alcatraz amongst many other notorious prisons. he committed 69 armed robberies (the info i found says as many as 6 in one night), stole 29 cars, led the FBI on a coast to coast manhunt/chase for 18 months. apparently there's a character in escape from alcatraz based on him as well.

the more i hang out around the redden clan, the more i find out that each and every member of our family is freaking insane, lol.

i found someone on ebay that might be able to actually track down a physical copy of his wanted poster :). she said that she might be able to find the two radio broadcasts of gang busters that were about him too.

at least i know where my brother gets it now, heh.

Hahaha, that's pretty great!

My grandpa was a whiskey runner in the twenties but he can't compete.

in my creative writing class there was an older guy (in his 60's) that told him all about being a whiskey runner, which he shared with us. i'd say that's quite a colorful profession.

Yeah, I heard some cool stories. My grandpa was born in 1899 so did it during prohibition. The man was insane, but really cool. Later he became a train hobo and traveled as sort of a minstrel, he taught himself to play all these instruments by ear. I was really sad when he died. :(

i meant to say his grandfather told him about the stories, lol. yay meds.

i think that is an awesome story. a traveling hobo minstrel in america = FREAKING AWESOME!

Don't you wish it were back in those days sometimes? Jumping trains, that would have been the bomb.

the clothes were better then. i bet the air was cleaner too. and they were hobo's, not bums. i think hobo is a bit more dignified, lol.
