dad called me today which was weird because i had a vibe to call him and i was going to once i finished folding laundry.

he sounded weird.

he said "i'm afraid i've got some bad news kym."

that's something you never want to hear from a family member.

najpapa, or poppop - my grandpa redden - is in the hospital. he's been diagnosed with inoperable brain AND lung cancer. they gave him 6 months tops.

feisty old bastard wont stay in bed though. he assures them he will and as soon as the nurse leaves he's off to do whatever it is he feels like doing.

this old man is such a unique and fiery character. i pity his nurses.

the immediate family is going out there in a few weeks to visit - and perhaps say our goodbyes.

Having two inoperable cancers sounds absolutely horrible--it's good that he seems determined to live as he will despite that. He sounds very strong.
