i was researching psychiatric stuff (that's a technical term for those of us in the psychiatric field) for school and i was reading an artical about the "non-crazy" people's view on how the big two are treated (bipolar and schizophrenia). it was a study in which the illnesses were explained in all their blazing glory, then they also explained that the treatment is simply dosing up the patients with meds to control their symptoms and if they stop their meds the symptoms come back full force.

okay, now that the explination is out of the way, there was this awesome quote in the article that i just had to share:

"To the average person, this way of treating mental illness makes no sense. However, some of the more cynical among us would say that it makes both dollars and cents for the drug companies profiting from sales of these chemical marvels."






that is the best way i've ever heard it put, hands down.

yeah - that's true... but of course it doesn't change what you said above about the treatment being medication.
